Introduction

Connecting your virtual agent (via digital assistant) number to AnswerForMe lets an Company Formation (Complete Technical Guide)">AI agent reply to customers directly inside the most-used messaging app.

In this tutorial you’ll learn how to do it using Embedded Signup, which simplifies the full technical setup.

Prerequisites

  1. An active AnswerForMe account.

  2. A phone number that is not currently registered in WhatsApp bot (or one you can remove from the mobile app).

  3. Access to a personal Facebook (Meta) account to manage the business.

Step-by-step

1) Go to Channels

Sign in to AnswerForMe and navigate to Settings > Channels.

2) Start the connection

Click “Connect with Facebook”. A Meta popup window opens.

3) Follow Meta’s wizard

  1. Sign in with Facebook.

  2. Select or create your Meta Business account.

  3. Create a WhatsApp Business API Business profile (business name customers will see).

  4. Verify your number via SMS or call.

Important: if the number is already used in WhatsApp Payments Messenger or WhatsApp Business App, you must delete that account in the app settings before this step.

4) Grant permissions

Accept the requested permissions so AnswerForMe can send and receive messages on your behalf.

5) Done

When the wizard finishes, you’ll see your number connected in AnswerForMe with status Connected.

Note: replies are sent from your own phone number. Customers do not see “Sent by AnswerForMe”.

Agent configuration

Now that the channel is connected, make sure you:

  1. Open AI Settings.

  2. Upload your business info (Knowledge Base).

  3. Enable the agent for the smart chatbot channel.

  4. Define the agent personality. Read our Roleplay guide.

Troubleshooting

  • Verification error: confirm you have good cellular signal to receive the SMS.

  • Invalid number: confirm it’s not a landline, and that it’s not already registered in the API with another provider.
